Dear me… May your year be richer not because of stuff or dollars but because you gain in understanding, patience, kindness and love from and for those whom you encounter. May you seek peace and continue to build bridges.
May you obey His calling, His prompting, and His leading in your life. May you find joy and gratitude in those moments that matter. Remember to laugh often and find fun daily. Keep walking, traveling, and moving whenever possible. Don’t lose hope or your faith. Ever. Be less angry if needed, but fight harder if you that is required. Keep apathy at a distance and keep seeking justice. Spend time with friends and family who remind you of what is important and keep you humble. Be less right and listen more. Dig in daily into God’s word. In fact, never stop learning.
Slow down. Breathe. Write a ton. Keep buying a soda and Starburst when children’s burdens seem just a bit too much. Ask for help and let go, but please don’t start humming the Frozen version. But do play it a hundred times for your students who always sing it loud and proud and then in return bring out in you the biggest grin and heart smile.
Giggle. Sit. Talk for hours with those who are willing. Remember your manners and be gracious. Forgive. Know that God has it all taken care of so lean in and pray. Care for the orphan, but work to prevent them from becoming one in the first place.
Finally, try to not go bonkers as you ride to Chicago backwards. Really, quit trying to figure out how you could move the seats around so you can just face forward and save some sanity. The truth is girl there are just some things you just can’t change and that is ok.
